Bloom & Burn Flowers - Wedding Top Tips

This is the 6th installment of my blog series "Wedding Top Tips". It's all about flowers this time as I'm interviewing North London based florist Graeme from Bloom & Burn.

Tell us a bit more about your company and how it came about?

I worked in the TV industry for 12 years, mostly on reality shows like The Voice and Celebrity Big Brother. It was a lot of fun but I was desperate to do something more creative. I’d always been interested in flowers and enjoyed arranging them in my home and for friends parties, so I enrolled in a two week intensive floristry course before landing a position with the brilliant JamJar Flowers in Kennington. After almost a year with JamJar I decided to set up on my own and started Bloom and Burn. I work on my own from a home studio in North London.

What has been the best or most memorable wedding you've worked on so far?

One that stands out was at The Beagle restaurant in east London. It featured a hanging flower chandelier and dozens of vintage crystal vases lined the tables. The couple were keen to have a relaxed, stress free wedding and arranged the whole thing in less than three weeks.

What are your 2 top tips for brides and grooms to be?

Firstly remember that it's your wedding, so have what you want and stick with your own personal style, take inspiration from magazines and online, but add your own personality. Secondly find suppliers that fit with your style, don't just contact the first one you find and hope that they can give you what you want. Spend time on their websites and social media and look at the work they've done in the past, can you imagine their designs at your wedding?
