Rome Trip | September 2017

So this ha been a long time coming, 4 months to be precise. I've only now had a the chance to go through the photos from my Rome trip back in September.

My friend Tamara and I went mid September for 4 nights and neither of us has been to Rome before. We were so lucky with the weather with a high of 27 degrees (Celsius). We even got a little sunburned!

The first full day we went to see the Vatican Museum and St. Peters Basilica. It's breathtaking, despite it being a super busy place. We booked a guided tour to get lots of background information and little stories, which was way better than just walking around aimlessly and not know what you are actually looking at. The Sistine Chapel with paintings of Michelangelo was also part of the tour, though taking pictures was not allowed. We stared at it for about 30 min and it just amazed me how someone can create something so beautiful and with so much attention to detail so many centuries ago and we are still able to admire their art today.

On that day I also had the pleasure to eat the best Spaghetti Carbonara I've ever had in my life! We found the little restaurant with about 8 tables just a short walk away from the St. Peters Basilica in a more residential area. Sooooo good!

The next day we did a round trip with a shop on and off bus tour and wandered through the city, visiting the Spanish Steps, the Pantheon and enjoying some gelato at the Trevi Fountain. Unfortunately my battery died early on, so I only have a few good photos and took the rest on my iPhone.

On our last full day in Rome we did another guided tour, seeing the Colosseum, Palatine Hill and the Roman Forum. It was such a beautiful day with blue sky and we ended the tour during sunset, which made for some awesome photos!

We basically spent the trip visiting all the major places and eating our body weight in Carbonara, Gelato and Tiramisu. All in all an awesome trip!!! :)
