10 Fun Ideas to Make Your Wedding an Unique Experience for Your Guests

Having attended quite a few weddings and events over the past 3 years it’s really great to see how each couple personalises their wedding day to create a fun and memorable experience for everyone. So I thought I’d share a list of things that I loved seeing over the years and that was a hit with all guests.

Fancy Dress Photo Booth

Who doesn’t love a good photo booth? It’s not just something that is fun in the moment, it also creates memories for your guests that will last a lifetime and the later the hour (and the more drinks have been served) the more hilarious are the resulting images! When you hire a photo booth the supplier usually brings bags full of props. The possibilities are endless. You can make it silly with boas, over-sized glasses, hats in every shape and form, mustache-sticks or keep it classy with pretty flowers, ornate frames or signs that commemorate the wedding date. You can even make or buy a giant cardboard Polaroid/Instagram cut-out.

Glitter Station

They're fun, they're sparkly, they get guests mingling - and need I say more, but everyone looks better covered in glitter!

Board Games Station

Offering a selection of quick, multi-player board games will entertain your more introverted guests throughout the evening. Think Yahtzee, Uno, Scrabble, Life, etc.

Also if you love Cards Against Humanity, you'll love "Cads About Matrimony" which has all the ridiculousness of Cards Against Humanity but centers on weddings and marriage. It's a great table game, especially for your friends (your Grandma might not appreciate the occasional PG-13 humour). If you're not familiar with the game, here's how you play: each player gets seven answer cards, and then players select a statement card on their turn. The other players choose an answer card to pair with the statement card, and the player whose turn it is chooses their favorite (usually the best or funniest). Whoever ends up with the most chosen statement cards win. Here's an example straight from the Cads About Matrimony deck: "First comes love, then comes ____." paired with "Pooping with the door open." See how this can get interesting?

Silent Disco

If your circle of friends really know how to have a good time, they will most definitely appreciate a silent disco as entertainment. The atmosphere in a silent disco is one that cannot be matched by any other type of entertainment – real fun lovers will embrace the funny-fitting headphones and limited channels in the best way.

A Magician

I know, I know… I was a sceptic as well, but it’s actually really fun. A great magician will be a top all-round entertainer. It won’t just be the magic that brings you in, but the person. Their act will often incorporate elements of comedy and priceless audience engagement, and that’s not to mention the fact the magic itself will be mind-blowing. The result: everyone has lots of FUN! That’s what you want for your wedding guests, right?

Interactive Food Station

Keep guests happy and satisfied by setting up an interactive food station at the reception venue. A fun dessert bar with a different flavour marshmallow bar, a chocolate fountain or a build-it-yourself taco bar are just a couple fun ideas to keep guests busy.

Bouncy Castles

Bouncy castles are ALWAYS a good idea, especially if you are throwing a summer wedding. This is something that can be such a laugh for both the adults and the children at your wedding.

Lawn/Garden Games

If you’re planning a pretty outdoor wedding ceremony or reception, then a great way to entertain your guests is with some classic games that can be played outside. Not only is this a perfect ice breaker for friends and family who might be meeting for the first time, it’s also a brilliant way to get everyone involved and having fun – not to mention you’ll get loads of priceless photo moments.  There are so many possibilities… jenga, croquet, giant checkers, connect four, twister badminton to name a few.

Polaroid/Instant Camera

An instant camera is a great way for your guests to take some old school selfies or fun group shots during the party to take home with them and cherish the memory of a great day/night or you could use the photos paired with a personal message for your guest book. Why not make a guest photo wall instead of an actual book? Fujifilm have some awesome instant cameras to offer, you can buy them online or in shops like Urban Outfitters or John Lewis. I actually offer my Instax Mini 90 Neo Classic to clients for hire for their wedding day. You even get to choose between colour or black&white film sheets to mix it up.

Harpists

Nothing is more angelic and beautiful than the sound of a harp playing. Hiring a harpist for your wedding ceremony is something that would give your guests a form of entertainment that is elegant and totally calming. Here you can watch Harriet Adie play Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol.
